Home-Learning Task 8-1-20

This week, I have been assessing the children's recognition of sounds and high frequency words and also their writing and formation of letters. I am really pleased with the progress they are making and they are trying really hard : ) We will be continuing to focus on these this term and putting the sounds together to write simple words and sentences using finger spaces and a full stop. 

By the end of this term, I would like them to be able to:

• Hold a pencil correctly. 
• Write their name correctly - using only a capital letter at the beginning. 
• Develop their formation of lower case letters -  Go through the sound pack that was sent home at the beginning of last term to see which sounds they now recognise and which ones they need to practise reading and writing. 
• They need to recognise the sound without the picture and help them to form them correctly by saying the phrase. 
• Choose 2 or 3 that they need to focus on and practise writing these CORRECTLY before moving on to the next sounds. 

There are lots of different fun ways to practise these skills; you could try using paint in a zip lock bag, writing on steamy windows, whiteboards, magna doodle style boards, use different coloured pens, outdoor chalk on the patio, paint and brushes, water writing on a chalk board etc.  

Little and often, practise makes perfect!
