Week 3 Activities.

Here are some of the activities and learning for this week.

Language, Literacy and Communication Development.

Handwriting Focus overview:

Language task 1. Introduce pre cursive script family of letters. Recap verbally and with actions: l, i, j.

Reintroduce the long ladder letters- t,u,b

Entry line- get ready on the line and up the slide.

t-up the tower, down the tower, across the tower- Monday.

u- up, down and under, up to the top and draw the puddle- Tuesday.

b- Up to the top of the boot, down the laces and around the toe- Wednesday.

Carousel of handwriting activities.

Language task 2  Read write inc- Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Listen to the story The man whose mother was a pirate by Margaret Mahy & Margaret Chamberlain- whole class. Discuss aspects/characters in the story.

Task 3 Language Focused. Write a message in a bottle, Using cursive script, finger spaces, Capital letter, full stops and the connective and/because. 

   

Mathematical Development.

Maths task 1: Paying for items: use 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p coins to pay for items. Play Pirate shop.

Maths task 2: Reintroduce: be able to read and form the numbers 12/13/14 Hold a pencil with a dynamic grip, form the number with correct orientation and size.

Maths task 3: Understand what a ‘problem’ is. Be able to share an amount equally.    

Creative Development.

To develop awareness of sounds and rhythms and create their own.

Creative Development: Design and technology- Chose suitable waterproof material to make a coat. Copy a pattern and cut out shapes/join materials and test. Make a waterproof coat for Jolly Jack using waterproof material they tested in K&U focused task last week.

Personal and Social Development.

Beach Safety- identify dangers- Beach flags.

Physical Development.

Pirate movements: To be able to link together a series of moves using different pirate actions to music.

Enhanced Tasks:

Writing Area: draw a pirate and name him using alliteration. Write your pirates name down underneath. Writing wall: Draw a tropical island with 3 trees, a treasure chest and the sea. Name it using alliteration.

Sand: find the coins in the sand and tell a friend/adult what treasure you have found. Draw the coin or do a rubbing of it in your book.

Water: free task

Dough: Press coins into the dough and look at the imprint. Tell a friend or adult which value coins you have used.

Creative: mix different colour blues and paint waves on the easel. Press paper onto the easel and look at your print.

Roleplay: behave like a pirate and sail the pirate ship. Scrub the deck, steer the ship and man the rigging. Listen to the Captain or you’ll be walking the plank!

Computers: coin game. Sit with a friend and play the coin game. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/money/coins-game

Maths Area: buy items from the pirate shop. Use the correct money to pay.

Reading Corner: free

Construction: Build a pirate ship with 3D shapes. Draw a picture of it in your book. Tell an adult the names of the shapes you have used to make your ship.

Small World: tuff tray- tropical island- free

Welsh: buy an icecream from the ice cream van- Beth wyt ti’n eisau? Bore da/prynhawn da. Diolch yn fawr, croeso. Sut wyt ti?

Music/Dark Room: free

Fine Motor Control/Lightbox: make cursive letter in the sand. Write your name.

Investigation area: Test the materials to see which ones are waterproof. Draw a picture of the waterproof ones in your play book.
