Whoosh! A hectic week.

Whoosh this week has whizzed by like a firework!

What a busy time we've had returning back to school for the second half of the Autumn Term.

Here are some things that have been happening in our class this week. 

All the children had their school photographs taken this week. Everyone looked great smiling for the camera. I can't wait to see everyones photos. 

The home learning this week is all to do with our fortnightly theme on Bonfire Night. Stay safe and enjoy the fireworks. All the home made model fireworks and firework pictures will hang from our seasonal display- Bonfire Night. I will upload a photograph once its finished. Home Learning needs to be handed in by next Friday please as I've given more time for the tasks.

These have been stuck into your child's learning log.

Charlie wrote a Halloween song last week and he kindly brought it in to show us. We all enjoy it very much. Well done Charlie I thought it was very good- Thank you for sharing it.

Here we are making a poster about how to be safe on bonfire night. 

Ask the children why we celebrate bonfire night and who Guy Fawkes was and what he did? 

Below are an example of the Acrostic Bonfire Poems we have written this week. The children were encouraged to come up with the suitable vocabulary and choose their Acrostic poem word. They all had a very good go at sounding the words out and writing them down.

Here are 5 firework pictures made using a paint programme on the computer. We are learning skills in using a computer mouse and manipulating a programme and its tools to create images.

We studied the Artist Wassily Kandinsky and over the past few weeks we have been learning about 2D shapes and patterns. We combined these things and made beautiful Art work in the style of Kandinsky. This is relief printing, as you can see our printing blocks are around the display. 

Our Art work looks really bright and colourful and cheers up our Creative Development Area. The children are now going to be interviewed about what they have learnt and then QR codes will be added to the display that can be scanned and the video will be shown on the device scanning it to listen to what they had to say.

Patterns and shapes everywhere!

We now have 15 children who are now reading books with words. Some children are not quite ready at the moment, which is quite normal, so please don't panic about this. Keep learning the yellow High Frequency words and letters sounds cards. These are more important than going through the picture books. As soon as they are ready and confident they will be put onto books with words.

Thank you for continuing to help your child with these words at home. I really appreciate the support.

Over the next few weeks we will be concentrating on number recognition and digit formation. 

Some children still need to practise writing their names too. Ask your child to write their name on a regular basis as this really does help with independence in school. As you can see from the display photos above the children write their own name labels on any displayed work and on the covers of their books.

TECHNIQUEST PERMISSION SLIPS HAVE BEEN GIVEN OUT AND NEED TO BE RETURNED. THE TRIP IS ON NOVEMBER THE 18TH. PLEASE COME AND SEE ME ON MONDAY IF YOU REQUESTED TO COME ALONG TO HELP ON THE TRIP. I NEED 2 PARENT HELPERS PLEASE.
