What's planned for next week?

 We are continuing our lovely work using the book 'The Rainbow Fish' by Marcus Pfizer 

The work planned for next week is as follows.

Language Development. 

Read Write Inc.

Learning/reviewing the letter sounds- Review sounds- m,a,s,d,t,i,n,p,g

Introduce-
o-All around the orange. 

c- Curl around the caterpillar.
k- Down the kangaroo’s body, tail and leg.
u- Down and under the umbrella, up to the top and down to the puddle.
b -Down the laces, over the toe and touch the heel. 

Forming these letters with a variety of kinaesthetic opportunities- pencils, chalk, shaving foam, dough, paint, sand. Remember we start with a get ready line which starts on the line.

High Frequency Words. Daily review of 
a, all, am, and, are, at, away, big, can, cat

introduce- the next 5 words- come, dad, day, dog, for.

Book-  The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfizer

Focus Task-     Read the story the rainbow fish, characteristics of the book. Drama work- Role play the Rainbow Fish story to retell it using props.  Video their Drama and review it together- discuss the language they used during the role-play to retell the story.

Guided Reading Activities. 

Guided reading is 'small-group reading instruction designed to provide differentiated teaching that supports children in developing reading proficiency'. The small group model allows children to be taught in a way that is intended to be more focused on their specific needs, accelerating their progress.

Activities for the week- Reading with a teaching assistant.
Reading High Frequency words with a teacher.
Consolidation of letter formation from Read write inc sessions.
Using the class library.
Reading and writing CVC words.
Puzzles.

Daily CLIC Maths.

Counting
Saying Numbers- I can count to 10.
Counting skills-I know when to count, I know the last number is the total.
Actual counting, I can count on and count back 1.

Learn its
Doubles- 1+1, 2+2, 3+3, 4+4, 5+5 using a visual (hands) as a guide.

Calculation.

Mathematic Development.

Focused Tasks- Number- Reciting and reading numbers up to 20 or beyond- baseline assessment. Pattern- Make an individual rainbowfish from repeated patterns- baseline assessment.

Physical Development. 

Development of gross motor control - focus running.
Fine motor control development- dressing and undressing themselves for PE. 

Daily Fine Motor Control Intervention Group- with Miss Key
Putting the pipe cleaners into a box.
Threading a pattern using beads onto a lace.
Dough disco.
Picking up and counting tiny gravel.
Writing own names using pencils.


Knowledge and Understanding of the World.

Focused Tasks- Where do fish live?  Look at types of water- Frozen, Cold, warm, coloured water. Investigation: Predict what will happen with Ice cubes left in a glass in the classroom.

   Observe them melting and record in pictures.

ICT Taking photos using an iPad.

Look at the camera icon, practise taking photos of each other on the iPad.

Your child could practise this skill with you at home on a phone or iPad.

Forest Schools.

Look for signs of Autumn, make an Autumn table in the classroom. Go on a scavenger hunt like a squirrel. At home you could do this too and encourage the children to bring in any Autumn treasures they find or do an online image search with your child and print off an Autumn picture for our Autumn display.

Creative Development. 

Focus Tasks
Music - Steady Beat using body percussion and instruments.

Art and Design-  Focus tasks 

Art- look at the Artist Wassily Kandinsky. Printing- relief work two colours using circles.

Personal and Social Education. 

Focused Task- Look at the different types of fish, discuss their appearance. Fat, thin, long, colourful, plain and what they can do- swim fast, catch prey, care for other fish etc. Relate this to the Rainbow Fish.

Are we different looking to others. What colour hair do we have? What colour skin do we have? Discuss how appearance varies but inside we are all the same. 
Discuss appropriate behaviour towards people who may look different from ourselves.

Enhanced provision in all classroom areas.

Use enhanced books with a little support to record 
independent learning.

Welsh Language. 

Incidental Welsh throughout the day. 

Revise all Language patterns covered so far this term.

Focused task- Making colours. Lliwiau- Coch mixed with Gwyn to make Pinc. writing the words for the colours in Welsh. 
Making a Pinc handprint Pysgod Enfys (Rainbow Fish) with finger print colourful scales.

Thank you for all the wellies that have been brought in. If you have yet to bring in some for your child please can you do so as soon as possible.

A polite reminder that your child's Learning Log needs to be returned on Monday. 

There are still a few people who need to pay snack money also.
