I plan to use QR codes in the classroom.
Reception children are only just beginning to read information and are unable to read class signs with instructions without an adult's help to decode it. QR codes can help over come this dependence on adults and using technology will aid with the development of their skills. Children with additional needs will also benefit grately and be able to access the curriculum independently.
Firstly I plan to put QR codes in all the enhanced areas where we encourage the children to complete a differentiated task independently. They will be able to scan the QR code with an iPad and either view a video/ photographs/ recorded instructions explaining the tasks and what they are supposed to do.
Your child will become very familiar with these square codes as their classroom environment is soon to be full of them allowing them to become more independent. Perhaps you and your child could look out for QR codes on products and packaging and scan them. Discuss what information the QR codes holds.
