Over the next two weeks we are going to be reading "The Rainbow Fish' by Marcus Pfister and planning our learning around the themes in this book.

Forming these letters with a variety of kinaesthetic opportunities- pencils, chalk, shaving foam, dough, paint, sand. 

High frequency words. review of a, and, all, are, am. introduce- the next 5 words.

Book-  The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfizer

Read the story the rainbow fish, characteristics of the book. Cut out a fish and make a fish mobile. Write a sentence using emergent writing … The fish wanted a shiny scale.  Or write words to describe their fish… sparkly shiny fish, red fish etc.

Mathematic Development.

Shape. Make a rainbowfish from 2D shapes. Describe the properties of the shapes.

Daily CLIC Maths.
CLIC maths is a scheme we follow for daily mathematical teaching and consolidation. It has four stages as shown below. Its introduced in Reception class and will be taught in every class as your child moves through the school. the first stage is daily counting sessions and recognition of digits.

Physical Development. 

Development of gross motor control - focus Walking.
Fine motor control development- dressing and undressing themselves for PE. 

Knowledge and Understanding of the World. 

Set up the class fish tank in preparation of the fish. Place it in the Investigation area. Look into caring for fish. What do they need to live? Forest Schools.

In a group make a rainbow fish from Autumn Leaves. Count how many leaves.

Photograph your fish using an iPad.

Creative Development. 

Music, reciting nursery rhymes.

We have been learning rhymes and songs with the help of this youtube video over the past few weeks. Its a huge hit with the children and they really enjoy it. Part of their baseline assessment is being able to recite nursery rhymes, poems and songs. This will help them develop their skills.

Personal and Social Education. 

Play a fishing game as a group. Be able to cooperate with others, take turns and celebrate success and defeat appropriately.

Enhanced provision in all classroom areas. 
use enhanced books with a little support to record independent learning.

Welsh Language. 

Incidental Welsh throughout the day.

Also- Making colours. Lliwiau- Coch mixed with Gwyn to make Pinc. writing the words for the colours in Welsh.

The school nurse is in this week. All paperwork must be returned please. There are still a few people who need to pay snack money also.

Please ensure your child is suitably dressed for our Forest School Sessions on Thursday and Friday. We will be going out regardless of the weather.
