Labelling Property.

Please label your child's property. 

During the school day in Y Garth we have 28 bags, 28 drinks bottles, 28 jumpers and cardigans and 28 coats, lunch bags, homework bags, pe kits, pairs of wellies etc etc. 

As you can imagine there is property everywhere!! 

We are well versed in looking after children's things and reuniting property and children at the end of the day- if the property is labelled. 

It's very hard to match an un named jumper or cardigan to a child. 4 and 5 year olds tend to have little or no recollection of which specific item of navy jumper or cardigan they wore to school on that particular morning. 

At the moment we have 4 matching pink drinks bottles with no names, a variety of others that have no labels and 3-4 brand new cardigans/jumpers in the jumper box. These have been there for over a week and belong to no one. 

Parents are often upset that their child has mislaid a cardigan and drinks bottle. Usually the item is not labelled with the child's name and goes into our school unclaimed property box never to be reunited with its owner again. We wish to avoid this happening as clothing and property are expensive. 

Please invest in a permanent marker pen for labelling bags, bottles and shoes/wellies etc. 

Biro pen is effective when writing on cotton labels inside jumpers and clothing. It will last for many washes and only needs to be re written infrequently throughout the year- I've used this method for my own children as I never seem to have time to sit and sew on name tags.
