Autumn

All the children have settled well and are enjoying our activities in school.  A few children still have not got their wellies in school which means that they cannot join in the forest school activities.  Please can they be brought into school as soon as possible?  Thank you.

Over the next fortnight we will be doing lots of Autumn activities.  We will be reading the story of 'The Little Red Hen' and our activities will follow on from it.  If you have a copy of the story at home please send it in as it would be nice to read different versions of the story to the children.  Some of the activities we will be doing are as follows:

• Autumn Walk - The children will walk around the school grounds looking for signs of Autumn.  They will discuss what is happening to the trees and the wildlife and will choose autumnal objects to make a crown.

•  Bread tasting - Children will feel, smell and taste a variety of different breads and then will be encouraged to describe the differences.  They will decide which they like best and make a pictogram to help discuss the results.

•  Circle time - The children will use the story to discuss what makes a good friend and how it feels when they are not nice to you.

•  Little Red Hen Lotto - matching pictures to words

•  Counting and adding using autumnal objects

•  Help to create a display of 'The Little Red Hen'

We are going to be busy!  If you have any pine cones, conkers or acorns please can you bring them into school.
