Bore da Y Garth,
This week is well-being week at Penygawsi.
The main part of the week will see us taking part in a special "Bluebirds from Home Festival" that has been prepared by our partners at Cardiff City FC Foundation.
They have put together some great resources which I have shared with you via our class shared HWB file. There are suggested literacy, numeracy, PSE and physical activities for each day and to end the week, there are some ideas for you to hold your very own sports day on Friday.
Please see the main blog page for further information about the festival from Mr.Ball.
Wellbeing activities
As it is a well-being week their will be no additional maths and literacy activities. Mrs.Hawkes and Miss Vowles have very kindly put together a pack of well-being activities for the week. There are 5 altogether, one for each day. There's also a lovely story called 'The Knot' which I have shared with you on HWB.
Activity 1
Design and create your own worry monster or worry doll. You can use junk and recycled items to make it. If don’t have access to any resources then they could just design one on paper or J2E.
Activity 2
Create a jar to put ideas of ‘Things to look forward to’. You can work as a family to do this. Think of a label that
suits you and your family. E.g. ‘Happy Future’. What things will you be looking forward to the most after lockdown?
Activity 3
Film yourself doing your favourite dance, skill or trick. Upload them to your J2E folder.
PLEASE DO NOT USE TIK TOK FOR THIS ACTIVITY. IT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR OUR AGED CHILDREN AS YOU MUST BE 13 TO USE IT.

Activity 4
Create a ‘Calm Bottle’ or ‘Lava
Lamp’ Here is a set of
instructions to help you or can you find your own:
1. Add warm water to
your jar or bottle until it reaches around a third of the way up.
2. Add the glitter
glue and stir until it combined with the water.
3. Add around 3 drops of food colouring and stir.
4. Pour in the
glitter!
5.Top up your jar with the rest of the warm water, until it is almost full.
Activity 5
Make a den. This could be
indoors or outdoors. Objects you can
use could include sticks, bed
sheets, chairs, stones, blankets, tables, or anything else you might have to
hand that would be den worthy material. Maybe you could have a tea party or a picnic in your den once it is finished!
7 Day Photo Challenge
Can you take a picture of a...
Monday – Smile
Tuesday
– Favourite food
Wednesday
– Family member
Thursday
– Something that grows
Friday –
The weather
Saturday
– Something that makes you proud
Sunday –
Something calming
You could make a collage at the end of the week with your 7 photos. I look forward to seeing them : )
Whilst there is an activity for every day, as we've said before, only do what you can. Maybe look through them together and plan what they would like to have a go at.
In addition to this, we have been asked to set our own class challenge.

Guess Who
We have been away from school for such a long time now, it is understandable that we are all missing our friends and teachers. So I thought we could play a little game for our well-being challenge.
Please can you take a photo of yourself in disguise? You could wear a costume, a mask, a silly wig or hat or maybe some funny glasses.
Ask your Mum or Dad to take a photo of you and upload it to your HWB file. Please can you also take and upload a photo of you without your disguise?
We will be using the photos to play a game of 'guess who' on our blog next week. The teachers in Y Garth will also be joining in and I look forward to seeing and sharing your pictures.
I will be calling the remaining families on Monday (today). Remember it will be from a witheld number and if you have changed your contact details, please let the office know.
As part of the well-being week, we'd like to see everyone posting photos of their work and activities on our school Twitter page throughout the week, tagging the school @PenygawsiPri using the hastag #wellbeingweek2020.
Also our partners at Cardiff City would be very grateful if you could tag them in your posts @CCFC_Foundation using the hashtag #BluebirdsFromHome.
Have a fun week : )
Diolch
Mrs.Dollman
