Have a chat with your parents about Easter. What do you know about it?

After you have watched them, talk to your parents about how Toby celebrates Easter with his family.
Writing Task
Can you make an Easter card/s for your family?
Work with a grown up to search for Easter images using the 'kiddle' search engine on the internet.
'Kiddle' is a child-safe visual search engine.
Use these pictures to give you some ideas for the front of your card. Make sure you write 'Happy Easter' on the front too.

Talk about what we should write inside a card, then have a go to write it. Remember to say each word carefully and write the sounds that you can hear.

It is really important that you keep practising your sounds and letter formation every day, particularly the sounds you find tricky to write.

Ruth Miskin is continuing the speed sound sessions via YouTube again every morning this week. Each session is available for 24 hours.
If you are in Miss Morgan/Mrs.Hargreaves or Mrs.Dollman's group, follow Speed Sounds Set 1 at 9.30am.

Mathematical Development
Spring is finally here and I am so glad we have had some lovely weather.
Spring is one of the 4 seasons - Can you remember the other seasons?
Can you become a Spring detective and find out a little bit more about this season? Go for a walk with your family, can you find any signs of Spring?
Can you find the things on this Spring hunt sheet?
Take some photos, draw some pictures or make a list of things that you find in your home learning book.
Symmetry
Butterflies start to make an appearance in the Spring and you may see some on your Spring walk or flying around in your garden. Butterflies are beautiful creatures whose wings are symmetrical.
If something is symmetrical, it is the exactly the same on both sides. An object is symmetrical when one half is a mirror image of the other half. Have a go at these games:
Can you make a symmetrical butterfly? Fold a piece of paper in half and cut out a butterfly wing shape.
Paint one half of the butterfly with a pattern using different colours. Fold the butterfly in half see what happens when you open it back up?
If you fancy a challenge, have a go at the sheet below. Use a mirror to help you draw the other side of the picture.

We have been practising our Welsh colours. Can you teach your family the colours in Welsh?

As well as doing some important maths and language based work it is important that we keep our body and minds healthy and make sure we get enough time away from our computers and television in order to do this.
It was great to see lots of children all around the UK joining in with Joe Wicks' workout last week. He will be continuing his sessions this week at the same time via You Tube.

HWB
If you haven't already, please help your child to practise to login to their HWB and explore
j2e (just 2 easy).
Mrs.James has posted step-by-step instructions on how to do this on the main blog page.
When they are logged in to j2e, your child will have their own folder to keep their files. Any work you complete in the j2e programmes will be saved here and you can also upload photos of your work, which a few pupils have already done : )
Please could you have a go to upload one or two photos of the activities your child has done this week? (I will post instructions in the next blog to show you how to do this).
I would love to see what you have been doing and I am able to make comments on your work which you can read together.
I know how much everyone in our class loves to put a star in the class tub, so next week, we are going to start using the 'j2stars' programme where you can collect stars for all of your hard work at home.
In this programme, you can create your very own avatar and collect stars for all your hard work.
Here is mine : )
Can you help your child to create their avatar? Click on j2stars. Click on the little pencil next to the avatar. This will let you change the colour, hair, eyes etc. Make sure you save it when it's finished.
I will be looking at any work posted throughout the week and awarding stars, so keep checking your avatar.
I hope you're all safe and well and have been trying hard at home and helping your Mums and Dads. Most importantly spending some quality time together, enjoying the sunshine where possible.
I appreciate this is a very challenging time for everyone, particularly as lots of us are now working from home, whilst also trying to juggle home-schooling and keeping some kind of order in the house!
We don't expect you to complete all of these activities. Please continue to practise the basics such as sounds, HFW and numbers frequently and pick a few from the list to have a go at when you can.
