Week 5

We have been very busy bees in Y Garth. Here are some photos of the things we have been doing over the past fortnight:

We had a surprise when we came in to class last week. There was some 'danger' tape across our magic door. Our first clue! We discussed what the children think has happened and what we now think may be behind the door - have we changed our minds?  Some think there may be dragons or giants on the loose whilst others thought some building work or a big bad wolf!! Who knows, we will keep investigating!


We will be finishing our compact profile assessments through our focus story  'The Three Little Pigs' this week. 

Lanaguage, Literacy and Communication

Act out the story. 

Sequence the story and talk about the pictures.


Mathematical Development / PSE

Use 2D and 3D shapes to make a house for the pigs.

Play the Three Little Pigs game to practise counting, taking turns and sharing.

Circle time discussion - what makes us happy?


Other areas of learning
Collage a house for our construction area display using materials from the story.

Using our 2Simple building programme on the computer, work with a partner to build a house for you to live in.

Welly Wednesday - Autumn walk. Use our 'nature detective' magnifying glasses to look for signs of Autumn in our school environment. 

We will be starting to learn our song ready for our Harvest celebration. Have a practise in the house:

If you have managed to find some Autumn treasures, we would love to see them and start building up our Autumn table.

If you would like to join us for one of our reading cafés, please can you return the slip by today? I will be sending letters home today to those who have said they would like to come with the date that has been allocated.

PE and Welly Wednesday
On a Wednesday and Friday, please can children wear shoes with Velcro or easy to manage buckles please as laces are proving to be quite a challenge for the children and we don't want to miss out on valuable learning time.
