Home Learning Task

As part of our language assessments, we would like everyone to give a short talk to the class over the next few weeks. All the children love standing up and sharing news, so please don't worry that they will be worried or nervous about doing it.

As our topic is 'Together Stonger', we would like the children to talk about something that they are 'strong' at. In other words, talk about a skill or characteristic that they are good at for example, a class that they go to such as gymnastics or karate, a skill that they have learned like riding a bike, swimming or skipping, or if they think they are good at helping at home they could talk about some of the things that they help with.
We would like the children to talk for about two minutes, (which is quite a long time to talk for!) so, if possible, it would help if the children brought in some photos or props showing the skill they want to talk about as it will help them to think of things to say.

As well as assessing the way the children talk to the class (big voices and eye contact) and the language they use (full sentences and some detail) we will also be assessing the listeners! We will be looking at how well the children listen to each other and if they can ask relevant questions to the child who is presenting.

Please bring in anything they need to do their talk as soon as you are ready to do so as we can start listening this week. Otherwise please have their talk ready and in school by the first Monday after half term.

We are really looking forward to hearing all about our talented bunch!

Many thanks for your continued support,
Mrs Farrell and Mrs James.
