Mini beast hunting

On the last day of the half term Rhian from Wildhearted Learning came to help us complete a mini beast survey in our woodland. We found a range of mini beasts in the mud, under logs, hiding in the leaves on the ground etc. This will help us over the next few weeks as for our STEM topic we are going to help improve the natural habitats of the mini beasts by making bug hotels. We will investigate what bugs were found, where they like to live and what they like to eat to help us make five star hotels in our school grounds!

We also continued with our Eisteddfod activities; using pastels to recreate the work of Martin Evans, making Welsh rarebit and tasting Welsh cakes and bara brith. We made a tally chart of our results to use to make pictograms. We put one tally for each child who liked the food. As you can see, they were very popular!
