Snow!

We have been asked to provide some snow day activities as the school is closed.

The first thing we would like you to do is to wrap up warm, put on your wellingtons and have fun in the snow! Make a snow angel, build a snowman (if you have enough snow!) and have your photo taken to bring into school and share with us. 

Afterwards when your feeling a bit chilly, warm up indoors and you can have a go at doing some of the following work: 

Practice your letter sounds, apologies but our reading bags are in school. Cut up the letters of the alphabet and put them together to make Cvc words (consonant, vowel, consonant) e.g. Cat, dog, bag, cot. Blend the sounds together out loud to build the word, can the children do 'Fred in your head' and build the word silently and then just say it out loud? These words can be nonsense words too, sometimes it's more fun!

Practice formation of letters and numbers, everyone needs practise with these as its hard to get them the correct way and correctly formed.

Draw a snowman and colour it beautifully. Stay in the lines and really take your time. 

Make a paper snowflake by folding paper and cutting out shapes (ask your parents to google how to do it if they don’t know). 

Think of adjectives (description words) to describe snow. You could draw some snowflakes and then write the adjectives around it.

Drink some hot chocolate. Can you write or draw some instructions to show others how to make it?

Read a story to an adult and ask them what they liked about your story. Or have a story read to you.

Count pieces of dried pasta, sweets, fruit, tins in the cupboard and write the number and item down e.g 20 pasta tubes, 5 sweets, 9 apples, 10 tins. You could add them up or subtract them too.

Play a game with an adult such as snap etc. Remember to take turns and don't get upset if you don't win!
