Week 2 Spring Term.

This week we are starting our theme 'Animal Antics' and our work will be all about animals.

Some of our focused tasks are listed below.

This week we are learning about farm animals, particularly pigs, ducks, horses and their young.

Music: 
Learn the song 'Old MacDonald' learn the Makaton signs for all the animals and the song.



Creative:
Look at pictures of pigs, ducks and horses and draw one using pastels.

Knowledge and Understanding: Let's find out about farm animals.
What do you call a male/female pig, duck and horse? What are their young called?
What do they eat? Where do they live?

Language:
Draw your favourite farm animal to start the topic.
Story- Little Farmer Joe.
Recap formation of cursive, c, o, a, d, g
Onset and rime for 'ig'  e.g. pig, big, wig, dig, twig, fig.
Read Write Inc resumes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Mathematics:
Adding 3 to a number using a number sentence and resources.
Mathematical vocabulary for number sentences.
Counting the animals and their young.
Formation of numbers 10, 11 and 12.
Little Big Maths activities.

Home Learning:
Make a mask of your favourite farm animal to be displayed on our Old MacDonald Farm Yard wall.
Please bring the home learning in by WEDNESDAY 24TH OF JANUARY 2018. 

Please continue to read with your child every night for 5 minutes. Learning the high frequency words is also ongoing home learning.
We are assessing all the children at the moment and will be providing you with an up to date list to match your child's level of ability.
