Week 5

Week 5.
Five weeks in already! The time is whizzing by...

As part of our ongoing baseline assessments, this week we are working on...

Language Development:

Choose reading materials including books, understanding print conventions. Demonstrate an awareness of fiction and non fiction books.
RWInc will take place on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Guided Reading sessions everyday.

Mathematical Development:
Recognise and repeat patterns of up to three, visually and aurally.
Identify the pattern game. Follow a pattern and repeat it in beads/pegs and paint. Listen to the teacher say a pattern and make it.Patterns of colour and shape.
Daily Mental Maths sessions- counting up to 0-5, 0-10, 0-20 and beyond for those children who can do up to 20. Identify the missing numerals on the 100 square, estimate the number of 3D shapes that the tower will fall down at and write the number down. Identify 3D shapes in the tower. Mathematical vocabulary- one more, one less.

Physical Development:

Show increasing control in a variety of activities. 
Using playground equipment- bikes, hoops, ball. Moving along apparatus. Ability to use fine motor control equipment: scissors, peg boards etc.

Play to learn shapes in PE. Running.

Personal and Social Development:

Playing independently and cooperatively with other children by demonstrating the ability to:
Play a game of snap, participate in completing a puzzle with another child. Role play Kings and Queens in the castle. Working together to find the numbers in the sand.

Begin to recognise appropriate behaviour for different situations, often modelled on the standards of an adult. 

Play the game... how would you behave in a ....? Show me.

Demonstrate the ability to:

Respond to others with increasing sensitivity to their needs. 
Looking after Teddy. 
Teddy has fallen over. What would you do?
Teddy is hungry. What would you do?
Teddy is upset. What would you do?

Enhanced tasks are the same as Week 4. Please see the blog post if needed.

School Trip and School Photographs. We are off on our trip this week too- on October 4th. Please ensure all trip money/consent form are in by Monday. 

The children will be having their school photos taken before we go on the trip. If you wish for your child to have a photograph with other siblings then please ensure the photo slip handed to you last week is sent in so we can arrange for siblings to be photographed together.
