Week 4

Below is a summary of what we are going to be doing next week. I hope you find this information helpful.

Focused Tasks

Language:

Read write inc starts this week. This is a phonics based reading programme we use in school. 

Understanding three step instructions. Show that they can listen to what is being said, carry out a an activity based on what they hear. 

Understand the concept of over, behind and under. 

Mathematics.

Recognise and use 2D and 3D shapes. Describe them and use them in play. 

Make a knight/princess using 2D shapes. 

Build a palace using 3D shapes.

Personal and Social Education.

Respond to most care routines independently. Understanding significant hazards.

What might happen when...? Game.

Physical Development. 

Show increasing control in a variety of activities. 

Using playground equipment- bikes, hoops, ball. Moving along apparatus. Ability to use fine motor control equipment: scissors, peg boards etc. 

Guided reading activities every day.

Daily mile every day.

Enhanced areas: these activities will run for a fortnight and the children are encouraged to work on these tasks independently and record their work in their play books. The first term in Reception is always the training phase for the enhanced areas where they recieve guidance and support from staff.

Creative area: Paint the picture of Cinderella, the Prince, the Knight and the Dragon. Choose appropriate colours. Hold a paintbrush with a dynamic grip. 

Dough: free choice

Paint board: free choice. 

Sand: find the numbers in the sand and order them correctly. 0-5  or 0-10

Water: fill up the containers to the top. Identify which container will hold the most water.

Computers: using a paint programme, draw a castle and Cinderella. Add your name as the illustrator of the work. Print out the picture.

Maths area: peg boards make Cinderellas dress add a pattern to it. 2 colour patter or a 3 colour pattern.

Library: free choice.

Welsh area: dress up in the Welsh costume.

Construction area: make the first letter of your name in brick and blocks. Make your name in bricks and blocks.

Writing wall: write your name on the writing wall. Draw a picture of yourself.

Role play are: in the royal castle dress up and have a royal banquet. Lay the table, count how many plates and cutlery you have used.

School Trip.

Permission slips will be handed out on Monday for our school trip to Cardiff Castle on October 4th. The cost of the trip will be £8. Please return the slips and contribution by next Wednesday. 

Home Learning.

Your child has been given their home learning book (blue book) in their homework bag. On the first page is homework. Please return it by Wednesday. 

Book Bags.

READING BOOKS AND DIARIES NEED TO BE BROUGHT IN EVERY DAY PLEASE.
