Our theme/topic this Summer Term is Wriggle, Dig and Crawl. I bet you can guess the types of skills that we are going to be learning and the activities we will be doing!! We are really looking forward to it!
I'm expecting the children to receive a special message this week from Queen Bee who has exciting news about how we can help her.
The children will be devising a mind map of ideas on how we can help her this week. We shall keep you posted, with photographs and information during the week, of our progress.
Some of the things we will be doing this week are...
Language.
Writing our Easter News- Sentence structure, capital letters, finger spaces, full stops, cursive script.
Formation of letters in cursive script.
Mathematics.
Coin recognition. 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1
Length. What is length? Explore this via questioning and come up with a definition of the word.
Topic/Theme Planning as a group- What can we do to help Queen Bee? What are we going to learn? Create a collective mind map.
Reinforcement of our class and school rules and discuss our expectations for behaviour and learning.
..............................................................................................
Snack money is £10 for this half term as we have just 5 weeks before the next break. Please send it in as soon as possible please.
Please return PE kits if you have taken them home during the Easter break.
Reading books and diaries need to be in school everyday for guided reading activities and individual reading with a teacher. Please continue to practise the yellow high frequency words and read every day with your child for 5 minutes, making a note in their diary for each occasion.

| Home Learning Task |
The first home learning task for this term is for your child to research and make a 2D drawing or 3D model of a mini beast. Please ensure that they have lots of opportunity to design and create it themselves. It really doesn't matter if it doesn't look exactly as it should as long as its the children's work and creation and they can talk about it.
This can be accompanied by a small fact sheet about the mini beast, which they have written or typed up themselves.
Please hand in the Home Learning task by Monday May 8th 2017. These will be part of our mini beast display in the classroom.
Please pop in if you need to speak to us about anything.
We will be asking for some help during this term in our lessons with our outdoor activities. If you are available during the day and think that you will be able to help then please let me know.
One last thing! Please send in any Easter egg packaging for our recycling project in school.
See you all on Tuesday,
Mrs James.
