Puppetry!

Making our puppets. 

It is great being independent! 

Today the children made their puppets by themselves without any templates or help. 

I wanted to assess the skills that we have been working on developing. 

They were given the lesson objective to make stick puppets of the characters in the Chinese New Year story. They had paper, black pens, coloured pencils, sellotape and lolly sticks. 

They recalled the story and its characters. They used their imagination to illustrate the characters and they assembled the puppets by themselves although sellotape can be a trick thing to master! 

Some of their drawings were quite difficult to cut out because they were small but when you are an independent learner you have the skills to keep at it until it's done. 

I'm really looking forward to seeing them perform the puppet show telling the story of the Chinese Zodiac. They are going to record themselves too. It will be the first time they've used the iPad to record something in school.
