Week 7...then Half Term!

Week 7 is a catch up week after a very busy bee week 6. 

Where everything became a little topsy turvy due to the flu vaccinations, Harvest practise and celebration and how I totally underestimated the amount of time needed for 27 children to make Little Red Hen leaf patterned hats, independently! 

Many things you see planned for this week are what we didn't have chance to cover last week.
Sorry for the repetition of blog post but I thought you might like to know what we are doing anyway.

Language Development.

Read Write Inc.

Learning/reviewing the letter sounds- Review sounds- m,a,s,d,t,i,n,p,g,o,c,k,u,b, f,e,l

Introduce-

h Down the horse’s head to the hooves and over his back.

sh Slither down the snake, then down the horse’s head to the hooves and over his back.

Forming these letters with a variety of kinaesthetic opportunities- pencils, chalk, shaving foam, dough, paint, sand. Remember we start with a get ready line which starts on the line.

High Frequency Words. Daily review of 
a, all, am, and, are, at, away, big, can, cat, come, dad, day, dog, for, get, go, going,he, I

Assessment of sounds and high frequency word knowledge this week in preparation for parents evening.

Focused task:

Book-  The Little Red Hen- Traditional Tale for Harvest.

Focused Tasks. Would Queen Sparkle want colourful food at her ball?  What could we plan to make? Colours of Vegetables/Fruit.  Adjectives to describe the fruit and vegetables.  Making vegetable kebabs. Making Fruit kebabs.  Guided Reading Activities.

Reading High Frequency words/sounds with a teacher
Consolidation of letter formation from Read write inc sessions.
Drawing your news on a whiteboard and telling someone what you've drawn.
Onset and rime CVC word.
Puzzles.

Daily CLIC Maths.

Counting

Saying Numbers- I can count to 10.

Counting skills-I know when to count, I know the last number is the total - Building Tall tower blocks

Actual counting, I can count on and count back 1.

Learn its

Doubles- 1+1, 2+2, 3+3, 4+4, 5+5 using a visual (hands) as a guide.

Mathematical Development: Focused task -Creative Development- Circles, Triangles and Rectangles and their properties. 

Knowledge and Understanding of the World.

Book Day and Night by David Bennett and Rosalinda Kightley. Focused Tasks- What is Day? What do we do in the day? What did The Little Red Hen do in the day? Sequence the Little Red Hen day pictures and take a photograph of them to stick in their book. Write why they like day. I like day because…

ICT- Using 2 Simple paint programme (all tools)

Create a snowman christmas card on the C-Touch screen. Print out.
