The Second Week of May

Another week is due to begin. Let's hope this beautiful spring weather keeps up!

We will be basing our work this week on the book Sandcastle by Mick Inkpen.

Language work will involve sequencing pictures from the book and writing a storyboard.

In mathematics we will be learning about the language of direction, moving in given directions from a starting point. 

This is a difficult concept and to reinforce it  at home you can help your child to explain how to get from one room to another in your house, using as much directional language as possible. Walk two steps to the kitchen door, open the door, turn left, walk six steps forwards. Climb up the stairs. At the top of the stairs turn right. Walk past one door and then turn left into my bedroom. These are just two examples.

Our Welsh this week will focus on the sentence pattern 'Sut mae'r tywydd?' which means 'What is the weather like?' We will answer with bwrw glaw(raining), heulog(sunny), gymylog(cloudy) and braf(fine).

In Knowledge and Understanding of the World we will carry out an investigation to find out which sand makes the best sandcastles-wet or dry.

In PSE sessions we will cooperate with others and develop our concentration by balancing on stepping stones placed around imaginary water.

In PE we will continue to use beanbags to kick, throw and catch accurately.

Forest School work will involve completing our Andy Goldsworthy art and in ICT we will finish drawing seaside features.

During our creative sessions we will use clay to make 2d plaques of seaside objects.
