The Last Week of January

Where is the time going?! It is coming towards the end of January already and we have a busy week ahead.

We are still using The Snow Lambs as the basis of our activities this week.

In language work we will be talking about speech and thinking about what the ewe and the sheepdog in our story might be saying to each other. We will write a sentence they might be speaking in a speech bubble.

In mathematics we will be adding 2 or 3 to a number up to 10 and finding a total by counting on.

We will match a variety of animals to the food they eat in Knowledge and Understanding of the World.

Our PSE will focus on understanding what we could do to look after animals in winter and our creative work will involve making a bird feeder. We will also make a sheep using a paper plate.

In PE we will continue to concentrate on footwork.

Our Welsh language pattern for the week is 'Beth sy'n bod?' Which means 'What is the matter?'
We will also be thinking of answers to that question, such as 'Mae pen tost 'da fi.' This means 'I have a headache.'

A few reminders for each day:-

Monday
Dinner money to be brought to school.
PE kit needed.
Mrs Vowles and Mrs Taylor on a course.

Tuesday
Mrs Taylor teaching the class in the morning.
Mrs Evans leading the activities in the afternoon and Miss Northway supporting.

Wednesday
Mrs Taylor teaching the class.
PE kit needed.

Thursday
Homework bags to be brought to school.
Mrs Farrell teaching the class.

Friday
Mrs Farrell teaching the class.

We will continue to assess high frequency words this week. The majority need to be known before a reading book can be given, so please practise, practise, practise!
We try to practise them for short periods each day, but the more you can do at home to reinforce what we do in school the better.

If you have not already paid snack money, it is now due.

Also the money for our annual trip to the Chinese restaurant in Cardiff can be brought in anytime this week.

It is still not too late to bring Christmas cards and envelopes to school to help us in RCT's recycling competition. They will be weighed on Wednesday of this week.

Thank you for all the support you give us.
Enjoy what is left of the weekend.
