The First Week of February

February is nearly here! Where did January go?!!

We have a very exciting week ahead learning about Chinese New Year in preparation for celebrating it.

All our activities this week will be linked to this festival.

In our language work we will listen to the Story of the Years, role play it and freeze frame parts. Then we will write captions for our freeze frames.

In mathematics we will concentrate on addition and ordinal numbers linked to the animals in the Story of the Years.

Our Knowledge and Understanding will involve making spring rolls and talking about irreversible changes in materials.

Creative work will focus on making Chinese red envelopes, turning our handprints into monkeys and devising a dragon dance which we will practise in PE sessions.

During our Forest School session we will go on a hunt for Chinese artefacts.

ICT will involve us writing numbers using Chinese symbols.

Our Welsh sentence pattern this week is revision of 'Sut wyt ti?' It means 'How are you?'
We will also revise 'Beth sy'n bod?' It means 'What is the matter?'

PSE will be very exciting as we are visiting the Chinese restaurant in Cardiff to have a buffet lunch and understand a little more about the food from a different culture.
