How are we starting this half term?

I hope all of the children had a great week off and have recharged their batteries for another busy half term. Our theme of 'Family Fun' continues. However, next week we will digress slightly and have a 'welsh fortnight' . Before half term we had a visit from a drama company called 'Welsh is Magic'. The children thoroughly enjoyed watching them, the performance included learning welsh phrases from a variety of books the children are already familiar with in English. Our favourite was 'Y Lindysyn Llwglyd Iawn' (The Very Hungry Caterpillar). So, we have chosen to complete our eisteddfod work from this book. Activities include:

• Copy a sentence from the story (handwriting competition)
• To sequence pictures or write sentences from the story (story writing competition)
• To choose appropriate materials to make the fruit the caterpillar ate in the story

Other St David's Day activities include:

• Make welsh cakes
• Making sheep 
• To make a leek or a daffodil using junk material 
• To understand positional language
• Separating a group of objects but, recognising that the total is still the same
• Selecting and writing the correct numeral to represent a number
• PE - Week 1: Balancing on 1 foot. Week 2: Log rolls
• FOREST SCHOOL: make bird food
