BLWYDDYN NEWYDD DDA!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL
I HOPE SANTA WAS KIND TO YOU ALL AND EVERYONE ENJOYED QUALITY TIME WITH FAMILIES!
Our topic for the Spring Term is 'Family Fun'. We will be looking at our own families, as well as animal families. We will also be looking at traditions amongst families from other cultures. However, we will start the term by looking at the change in season. Therefore, the first two weeks will be all about winter. Let's hope we get some cold, crip weather to help us - a bit of snow would be even better!

Over the next two weeks our Winter work will link to the film 'Frozen'. Activities will include:
  • A winter walk, followed by writing winter words on icicles
  • Making a snow queen out of numbers
  • Adding
  • We will make melted snowmen using icing sugar. We will look at the irreversible change when making icing
  • We will make and melt ice cubes
  • Using the feelings dice, we will discuss how characters from 'Frozen' felt at different stages of the film
  • Make snow globes
  • Transform our role play areas into a castle and an ice castle
  • Learning the names of winter clothes in Welsh
  • FOREST SCHOOL - collect twigs to make Olaf
If anyone has any items that would be suitable for our Winter tray, they would be appreciated.
Please don't send anything in that you want back as the children often play independently in that area.
We will finish our two weeks of Winter with a Frozen party, more information to follow.

PE will not start until week beginning 12th January.

Snack money of £6 is now due, prompt payment would be appreciated.

As you all know, I will be taking on the position of Deputy Head between now and the end of the Summer Term. As a result, my management time has been increased. I will be out of the class every Wednesday for management and a Thursday morning for PPA. The class will be covered by Mrs Boat, the children already know her as she has done supply in the class before. Mrs Boat will be attending planning meetings with the rest of the team so will have specific focus tasks to complete
with the children. This will ensure that there is no disruption to the children. If anyone has any
concerns please see me.

I'm sure we are all going to have a great term, learn lots and have lots of fun. However, if at any point you have any concerns please come and see me. See you all on Tuesday 😃
