Elmer day

We had a fantastic party to celebrate our 'Elmer Day'. The children all looked very colourful and they thoroughly enjoyed the games, food and puppets. Photos will follow. We did video some of the children singing 'Let it go' and hopefully Miss Day will be able to upload the video - it is priceless!

Next week, with the weather turning more autumnal, we will start our Autumn and harvest activities. The main story will be 'The Little Red Hen', although we will also be reading lots of 'Percy the Park Keeper' stories as well.  Some children have already brought in lots of conkers, so we have enough of them, but if you find any cones or acorns over the weekend please could you send some in. Not too many acorns as we need to leave plenty for the squirrels!
Our activities over the next two weeks include:

• Thinking of and writing words that end in 'en' e.g. Hen 
• Finding one more or less than a number from one to ten
• Beginning to understand the difference between 2d and 3d shapes
• Make salt dough bread
• Make a hen
• Circle time - importance of friendship
• Tasting bread and creating a graph on the whiteboard
• FOREST SCHOOL - leaf detectives. Children will look for specific autumn leaves and matching them to pictures
• PE - please remember kit. We will be working on jumping and landing
