I hope you have all had a great half-term holiday. Over the next two weeks we will be using the story 'Dear Zoo' to have a maths focus fortnight. We will be doing all sorts of fun activities which have a maths connection.
These include:
• Seeing if the children are as tall as a penguin
• Measuring how tall the animals in the book are using cubes
• Learning to take away 1 with circus elephants
• Making a 'group memory' shape animal
• Matching mother and baby animals
• Hot seating the child in the Dear Zoo story
• Going on a safari to find the escaped Zoo animals in the jungle and describing where they have found them using positional language
We are celebrating St David's Day on Wednesday 5th March, World Book Day on Thursday 6th March and 'Jonathan's Jungle' is visiting on Friday 7th March, so we are going to be very busy!
PE days remain the same (Monday and Wednesday) this half of term. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school on the correct day. (This week we will all do PE on Monday as we will be celebrating St David's Day on Wednesday). Snack money for this half of term is £6. Prompt payment would be appreciated.
Many Thanks
Mrs Bannister
