Chinese New Year

We have had a great two weeks looking at 'Winter', amongst all of the rain we were lucky enough to have a very frosty and crispy morning. We marked the register and went straight out - it was great and the children used some very good adjectives when describing what they could feel and see.

Next week, we will be starting our Chinese New Year celebrations. A letter with information about our Dragon Dance will be sent out tonight.
Activities next week will include:

               Preparing a dragon dance
               Descriptive writing about a dragon
Writing the name of the animal that represents the year the children were born in
Choosing a design on a red envelope and recreating it
Ordering the animals in the Chinese New Year race using 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc
Comparing how much water different containers hold
               Making stir fry
Playing in the role play area, which will be a Chinese restaurant
Using the 2simple programme to create a dragon on the computer using the fill tool
               Using the book corner appropriately
• Making bird food at Forest School
The children will also be introduced to the vet role play area so that they are able to use it independently when we start our work on animals.
If anyone has any small toy animals to go into the boxes in the vets we would appreciate them. Please do not send any precious animals in as they get well used.

The children are thoroughly enjoying Forest School, however in this wet weather, even though they are wearing wellies and a wet suit they are often coming back muddy. Please feel free to put spare socks in your child's bag on a Monday.

If anyone has any spare craft equipment we would welcome it - pasta, rice, buttons, ribbon, sequins etc - many thanks

Have a good weekend :)
